On the Formation of Spiral Arms in Dwarf Galaxies

چکیده
Spiral structure (both flocculent and Grand Design types) is very rarely observed in dwarf galaxies because the formation of spiral arms requires special conditions. In this work we analyze sample about 40 dS-galaxies found by scanning eye images late-type with $${{m}_{B}} < {{15}^{m}}$$ $${{M}_{B}} > - {{18}^{m}}$$ photometric diameter $${{D}_{{25}}} 12$$ kpc. We that apart from lower average gas (HI) fraction other properties including presence a bar isolation index do not differ much those for Irr or Sm-types similar luminosity rotation velocity (or specific angular momentum). There are practically no below 50–60 km s–1. To check conditions carried out series N-body/hydrodynamic simulations low-mass stellar-gaseous discy varying model kinematic parameters discs, their initial thickness, relative masses scale lengths stellar gaseous disc components, stellar-to-dark halo masses. came to conclusion gravitational mechanism effective only thin which non-typical galaxies, too slowly rotating galaxies. Therefore, small stellar/gaseous discs have ring structures. The thicker disc, more required form. reduced content many compared non-spiral ones may be result efficient star due higher volume density thank thinner discs.

Star formation in galaxies: the role of spiral arms
Studying star formation in spiral arms tells us not only about the evolution of star formation, and molecular clouds, but can also tell us about the nature of spiral structure in galaxies. I will address both these topics using the results of recent simulations and observations. Galactic scale simulations are beginning to examine in detail the evolution of Giant Molecular Clouds (GMC) as they f...
متن کاملThe Formation of Spiral Arms and Rings in Barred Galaxies
We propose a theory to explain the formation of both spirals and rings in barred galaxies using a common dynamical framework. It is based on the orbital motion driven by the unstable equilibrium points of the rotating bar potential. Thus, spirals, rings and pseudo-rings are related to the invariant manifolds associated to the periodic orbits around these equilibrium points. We examine the param...
متن کاملCno Abundances in Dwarf and Spiral Galaxies
CNO abundances in galaxies bear on issues of galactic evolution as well as stellar evolution and nucleosynthesis. Knowledge about them in dwarf and spiral galaxies depends mainly on emission lines from H ii regions, with information from stars and supernova remnants available for galaxies in the Local Group. Oxygen abundances can be related to both local and global properties of the parent gala...
متن کاملOn star formation rates in dwarf galaxies
We present evolutionary synthesis models of starbursts on top of old stellar populations to investigate in detailed time evolution the relation between Hα luminosity and star formation rate (SFR). The models show that several effects have an impact on the ratio between L(Hα) and SFR. Metallicity different from solar abundance, a time delay between star formation and maximum Hα-luminosity, and a...
